Switch between accounts

If you've connected more than one Google Ads account, the account switcher lets you toggle between them. Most of Hero Marketer is account scoped, so switching changes what you see across the app.

How to switch

The account switcher sits at the top of the sidebar. Click it to see a list of every account you've connected. Click an account to make it active.

Switching is instant. Hero Marketer updates the active account, refreshes the dashboard against the new account's data, and re routes any in flight queries.

Or from the Connections page

Each card on Account → Connections has a Make active button when it isn't the current account. Clicking it does the same switch as the sidebar dropdown. Useful when you're already on Connections (cleaning up, comparing IDs) and don't want to bounce back to the sidebar — the active card gets a small "Active" badge so it's clear which one's selected.

What changes when you switch

Most of Hero Marketer is account scoped:

  • Dashboard. Shows campaigns and metrics for the active account only.
  • Reporting filters. Dashboard and All campaigns remember date range, comparison, campaign type, status, and selected campaign names per Google Ads account.
  • Campaign wizard. Builds campaigns into the active account. In-flight wizard drafts clear when you switch. Drafts are tied to the account they were started against, so switching mid-flow drops the draft to keep keywords and ad copy from getting mixed across accounts.
  • Hero AI chat list. Each Google Ads account keeps its own list of saved chats (up to 10). Switching reveals that account's chats; chats on the previous account stay saved on it, just out of view.
  • Products. The product picker shows products on the active account. Products don't move between accounts.
  • Account settings (time zone, currency). Reflects the active account's Google Ads settings.

What doesn't change

Some things are workspace wide:

  • Your subscription and credit balance. Credits are pooled across all your accounts.
  • Your team and permissions (if any). Workspace level.

You can't switch while Hero AI is generating

If a Hero AI chat is mid-response, the account switcher is locked until the response finishes. Switching mid-stream would orphan the in-flight reply. Wait for the response to complete (or stop it from the chat input), then switch.

When to switch versus add

A common confusion: switching between accounts versus adding a new one.

  • Switch. When the account is already connected. The switcher shows it.
  • Add. When the account isn't connected yet. The switcher won't show it.

To add an account, see Add another Google Ads account.

Account picker keyboard shortcut

The account switcher is keyboard accessible. Open it with Cmd K (or Ctrl K on Windows) and type to filter. Select with arrow keys plus enter.

Viewing all accounts at once

Hero Marketer shows one account at a time. There's no all accounts dashboard view. If you regularly need a cross account picture, run the same Hero AI question against each account and compare manually.

For agencies that want a unified view across many accounts, this is a frequently requested feature. Contact support to flag it as something you need.

Edge cases

An account disappears from the switcher. Either the connection was revoked (in which case reconnect; see Disconnect Google Ads for the reverse), or the account was removed from your Hero Marketer workspace.

You can't switch. If switching does nothing or loops back to the original account, refresh the page. If that doesn't work, your session may have expired. See Session keeps expiring.
