Buy more credits

When your monthly credit allocation runs low or out, you have two options: buy a top up or upgrade your plan. This article covers top ups. For upgrade decisions, see Change your plan.

How top ups work

Credit packs are sold in $20 increments: $20 for 20 credits.

Unlike your monthly allocation, purchased extra credits roll over indefinitely. They sit in your purchased credit balance until used. When you spend credits, Hero Marketer automatically consumes your monthly plan credits first, saving your purchased credits for when you really need them.

When to buy

Buy a top up when:

  • Your monthly allocation is exhausted but you have one or two specific things you need to ship (a campaign launch, a Hero AI investigation).
  • You're between billing cycles and don't want to wait for renewal.
  • You're testing how much you'll actually use before committing to an upgrade.

If you regularly run out of credits month after month, the upgrade path is usually cheaper than recurring top ups. See Compare plans.

How to buy

  1. Click the Buy credits button. It appears in three places:
    • The sidebar credit balance. Click your remaining-credits indicator at the bottom of the sidebar to open a popover with Buy credits and Upgrade plan actions.
    • The out of credits screen that takes over the campaign wizard when your balance hits zero.
    • The plan page (Account → Plan), in the snapshot card at the top.
  2. Confirm the $20 charge in the Paddle checkout. Your existing payment method is used.
  3. Credits land in your balance immediately. The dashboard updates without a page refresh.

The charge appears on your next invoice as a separate line item from your subscription.

Order of consumption

When you have both monthly allocation credits and topped up credits in your balance, Hero Marketer spends them in this order:

  1. Monthly allocation credits first. These expire at the end of the billing period, so they're spent before they vanish.
  2. Top up credits second. These don't expire, so they're held in reserve until allocation is gone.

This order maximizes the value of your top up.

Refunding a top up

Top ups are non refundable as a standard rule. The 14 day money back guarantee covers your subscription, not credit purchases.

If you bought a top up by mistake (for example, you meant to upgrade your plan instead), contact support. We can review and reverse the charge case by case.

Bulk credits

For unusually heavy usage (regularly buying multiple top ups per month), contact support. Bulk credit pricing is available for accounts with sustained high volume.

When top ups don't help

Top up credits only restore AI access. They don't change:

  • Plan limits on accounts or products. If you're at your account or product limit, more credits won't unlock the next slot. You need to upgrade. See Hit account or product limit.
  • Subscription status. If your subscription is canceled or payment failed, topping up doesn't restore access. Fix the subscription first.
